On April 11th representatives of the North Sea Advisory Council have participated in the Decision Support Workshop for the North Sea Case Study in The Hague. Leaded by John Pope, this is one of the most challenging case studies for MareFrame (view details here).
Since 2014, the NSAC has proactively contributed to both the overarching goals of the project and the design of this case study. Despite the difficult balance between urgent short-term priorities and the mid-term concerns associated to research, they are giving significant steps to remove the barriers for the implementation of the ecosystem approach to fisheries management.
During the workshop the multi-criteria analysis has been used to define decision criteria for management scenarios. After a fruitful debate the value tree is being redefined and will be shortly updated at the Website.
The next step will be a MareFrame landmark: the NSAC and the Pelagic Advisory Council will jointly advance in the value tree and the management scenarios to make the most of the co-creation process.
