AquaTT News. The Atlas Project (A trans-Atlantic assessment and deep-sea ecosystem-based spatial management plan for Europe, H2020) kicked off on June 2016. This marks the beginning of an exciting series of expeditions involving at least 25 research cruises and hundreds of scientists from 10 European countries, the USA and Canada, working collaboratively to explore the depths of the Atlantic Ocean over the next four years.
For more information on the project visit the Atlas website or watch the BBC coverage video (2:25 minutes)
MareFrame and Atlas share the aim of developing a scientific knowledge base that can inform policy development. Up to 8 of the 12 Atlas case studies that follow the major Atlantic current patterns are clearly connected to the MareFrame South Western Waters, Northern and Western Waters, North Sea and Baltic Case Studies. Additional information on the MareFrame case studies is available here
